Bienvenidos a The Spanish Point! Mi nombre es Alejandra Gutierrez and I’m from Venezuela. I have a PhD in Contemporary Hispanic literature (University of Virginia), and I’ve been teaching Spanish for 18 years. During my teaching career I’ve taught not only all levels of Spanish language, but also literature, translation, theater, culture and more. Spanish language and Hispanic literature are my passion. I love words and I enjoy sharing my language and my culture with other people. All the things that I've studied and do come from that fascination: I'm a journalist, a translator, a professor, a writer, and a theater person. The Spanish Point is a space created to learn Spanish and to learn about Hispanic culture. I believe you can’t fully learn a new language without learning about the context of the places, and the culture of those who speak that language. What I want to offer here is a way to learn Spanish by exploring Hispanic culture. I want to help people who don’t know anything about the language, who feel stuck in a level, who want to gain confidence in a specific skill. Here, I will be sharing with you tips, guides, conversation opportunities, and of course classes for all levels. 

I hope you join me and begin or continue your journey learning Spanish. I will be here to help you and show you all the tools and actions you can take to move on in the process. I’m very excited about meeting all of you!
